It is not like I have cash falling from my pockets, I have plenty of projects to keep me busy and need my immediate attention. I just could not pass up the deal and challenge.

Picked up this Cherokee for a song, of course it has issues, lots of 'em.
It s my experience that forums are the best way for BIYers can get projects like this off the ground and I need to hit the ground running.

I have two other project cars in my driveway and the deal I made with my wife is I have to get one on the road or get rid of one; in six weeks. Four months to make the Cherokee legit or it goes. Failure s not an option.

It cranks but won't start, the wiring under the dash is a mess. The emergency lights is the only thing working. The engine has a fresh rebuild and has run, needs to be sorted.

Check for spark and fuel, then let us know what you find or don't find. Welcome to the sickness.

Just started working on it today. The battery is junk. So I used cables and my van to see if it would turn over. It did. Tomorrow I will check for spark, not even sure there is gas in the tank. Wiring under the dash has my attention. There are female plugs with no mate hanging all over the place. A good thing is the PO's are coworkers and friends so I just have to ask WTF is that mess. I know it has some kind of upgrades to it. Just don't remember what.

I see many trips to the local Pik-ur-Part yard in your future. Go and check under the dash of some rigs to help give you an idea of what is what. Take pictures too. What year is your new toy?

It's a 94 or older. The plugs for the turn signal switch are for a Saginaw steering column that was used from 84 to 94, and the header panel is from the first gen body style.

Welcome.
Don't leave a battery hooked up in that thing unattended, no reason to bother the fire department unnecessarily.

You have yourself a RENIX era Cherokee. Make nice with Cruiser54, he is the guru of all that is RENIX and will have all of the answers of what to check and how to check stuff. Your rig has good bones, just have to sort some stuff out.

YOOOOOO!

Looks like an 89 or 90.

What's the 10th digit in the VIN?

K is 89.
L is 90.
