Newb help please!!?&!/?)-$!
Hey guys
Other day I had the lower radiator hose go out on me. I noticed after I had been home for a bit that it was leaking and found the busted hose. No idea when it broke. Never ran hot no smoke.
Today I replaced the hose. Put some coolant in and put a k&n intake on it at the same time. After I started it up it got hot. Started smoking although I don't know if it was just the coolant burning off.
I know sometimes an air bubble can cause this but I'm a bit lost. New to jeep.
It also was acting a bit funny. When I hit the gas pedal and reved it up a bit it stayed up and even climbed just a bit after letting off. And even at idle it was around 1500 rpm's.
I don't know if the two are related or what. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Throw a year, make, model on the post. It helps get responses.
The lower hose isn't kinking? They're supposed to have a spring inside of them or they fold shut when hot... sometimes. If not, think air burping it or thermostat.

Always post the year of your Jeep on a new thread. There are significant differences on the XJ through the years.
Depending on the year, the earlier models need more assistance in burping out any air on the cooling system. From 91-01, the engine generally burps itself of air on its own in about 3-4 complete heat up / cool down cycles.
The issue with the throttle doesn't sound to be related. Get your cooling system in order and see where you are at. Know though that if one hose fails, the others are not likely far behind. What is the history of routine cooling system maintenance? IE: fresh coolant, thermostat, etc.
Money spent on cooling system maintenance is likely the best money you can ever spend on your XJ.

Ok sorry guys. It's a 2000 Cherokee sport. And I got it worked out. Running at normal temp but the hose I put on did not have a spring in it. Is this gonna create another issue? Thanks for the help.
I don't know if it caused a vacuum leak! Would that have caused an odd idle? I drove it for 20-30 mins after I got the coolant system ironed out and I never have an issue with an irregular idol.

Would it cause some type of ticking sound? Jeep ran great last night. This morning I started it and all of a sudden there is some type of new noise. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak but seems to be in the top somewhere.

Never put the spring back when I replaced mine and have had zero issues
EDIT:
The noise does sound like a lifter tick to me. You are above the "Add" line on the dipstick correct?
My cold air intake did make it more noticeable because the sound is escaping through the head, through the throttle body, and then through the cone filter by my reasoning, but that does sound pretty loud to me.

I think this is mostly a myth - I have never seen that issue on a vehicle that is properly burped.
