Default New XJ and Newbie with some questions

I just bought a 95 Jeep Cherokee Country Edition. What is the cheapest way to lift it and also can you run 31" tires stock? Someone gave me some 31" wheels and tires. Also, the molding on the bottom is worn and discolored and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for handling that. Thanks everyone!!!

31's are real tight and rub alot if you're sitting at stock height....thats how my '91 Briarwood was when we got it:

but for a cheap and easy way to fit 31's is with a 2" budget boost....i just ordered one from IRO....we got 2" coil spacers and a 2.5" AAL

It has 210k miles on. I don't plan on going offroad, it's my DD. I just want to do something cheap, not much money to spend. What if I take off the molding? Will it look bad?

I have 30x9.50s on my stock 96 xj an they rub on sharp turns in the front and big bumps in the rear. 31s would be really tight..

i think jeeps look better without the molding, but that's just me. if you want to keep them on, you can get a roll of that double-sides trim tape for a few bucks and a can of spray paint.

for the 31's, i'd get a budget boost to fit them. they are not expensive by any means, and if someone who has an old set of spacers and shackles on the forum here could offer some to sell you for cheap as well (hint-hint: help the brother out if you can).
