Default New XJ

Hey guys, I traded today and got a 99 xj. It is a sport model...couple of questions.

It has a cool start remote start installed.

When you start it, with the key or remote start sometimes it starts and dies right away, you retry it and its fine...fuel pump/filter maybe?

So I went to lock the doors after I got it home..well the lock/unlock button does not work...doesn't matter where you press it at...however the remote start will lock it and unlock it with the appropiate buttons....but i have a problem...it only locks and unlocks the driver door, it wont unlock the other 3...it does lock and unlock the hatch though? On the passenger side, well the lock button just sloppped back and forth..the passenger door opened fine a cpl times then it quit opening from the inside....took the door pannel off and the plastic holes on the lock button and handle are broke...so i cant connect the arms anymore...needless to say i cant lock and unlock my doors manually or automatically lol..with the door pannel off i can, but i haven't got to the back yet...on the back the lock button is like stuck, i cant get it to lock.

thats the only issues i am having at the moment, some more may arise, but thats all for now.

Yank that thing out and wire it back to stock.

When the remote start module fails or has glitches it will kill your engine-I hate those things even on brand new vehicles.

Even if it happens with the key the remote is wired to your ignition system and if there is a problem with the remote start control module, your ignition dies regardless.

Could just be a weak button battery in the remote...

check to make sure everything is wired correctly. my friend tried to wire one on his chevy and everytime he hit the start button the radio would turn on. needless to say but he didn't have a clue what he was doing. just a thought.

Well taking it out is going to pretty much out of the question. That's the only way I have keyless entry. And I want the remote start. I have heard remote starts are a pain to install. I have no experience with them. Im sure its possible something is wired wrong but idk where to start on it honestly. I think the only way to fix my door hand on the passenger door is going to buy me a used door skin
