New user: Tick when hot only
Hello everyone
Im fairly new here, this is my first thread. about a month ago i bought a 93 cherokee sport. it had a cracked exhaust manifold and the rear bolt manifold bolt had broken off into the head. so i removed manifolds, and the valve cover and cleaned everything. the head had alot of sludge in it. i welded the exhaust manifold and cleaned out the intake and bolted it back together. sounded but better
it snowed here so i started driving it, and ive found a tick once the motor warms up, tick is defenertly coming from the top end sound like around cylnider 5 under the valve cover. when the motor is cold no tick at any rpm or load. so this could be just because of thin oil? now i am running 15w40 can i run thicker oil? or is there a additive that keeps oil thicker? im the kinda guy who knows its not a bid deal, but im **** in that way and just cant stand knowing its not perfect... ive done multiple search's on the forums to find this answer before making this thread but all i found was motors tick when cold and go away when hot, mines the oppisite. i hope im not asking a question that comes up all the time
if so im sorry.
thanks for all the help
