Use the intake/exhaust gasket for the 89 since the intake ports don't match up perfectly.

O if you could match the ports intake and ex what a difference that makes performance wise might be the best bang for next to no $ the 1/8" to 1/4" difference between intake port on head and intake manifold makes for a lot of turbulence

That's exactly what I've done twice now. Match the ports to the REnix gasket and carefully blend into the ports about an inch. No need to go nuts.

I'm a bit confused. maybe. too much Turkey. you mean. adjust the alignment of the intake/ exhaust gasket. so it don't block any of the ports ???

Port the HO head to match the REnix gasket. Scribe the gasket to the head. Open the head ports up to the scribe marks. Conservatively blend into the ports only about an inch..

Yes what ever is bigger (usually manifold) cut gasket to match then draw on head (assuming it's smaller) grind head to match....

Absolutely. Use it along with your dizzy and flexplate/flywheel.

To clarify on the porting: Lay your 89 gasket over the HO head. Scribe the inside dimension of the gasket on to the head. Open the ports to match scribe marks. Carefully BLEND into the ports about 1/2" or so. Don't hog the ports out. There are water passages near them.

Since the engine is out of the jeep, its the best time to reseal EVERYTHING. Oil pan, rear main, front main, timing chain cover, head gasket (if you're brave enough), valve cover, etc... You'll be thankful later on down the road! Some of them are a pain to do once the engine is in the jeep.

Upper Gasket Kit

Lower Gasket Kit

ok. it's an auto. what's a dizzy? I've been around for a while. never heard that one. ??? Copy that. regarding the intake ports. I like that idea. can I do the same with the exhaust. oh! dizzy = distributor. that's funny. my oil filter mount is different between the 89 and the 94crate. does that make any difference ??. will my sending unit wire up and function properly?

thanks again for all the help guys. this is gonna be awesome fun.

I've done exhaust ports, too. But they don't need it much at all. The intake has the most obstruction when putting a Renix intake on an HO. Although peple don't port them at all and go on their merry way....

94 oil filter adapter will accept the later model filter Chrysler # 5281090 or Napa 1085.
