New to Old Front Seats
Has anyone succesfully put the older seats in their 96+ XJ? The difference being how they mount of course. The PO of my Jeep spray painted the seats so while it was at the shop getting a couple of things taken care of, I bought a set of seats from an 87 XJ that are still in near perfect condition. Well, when the Jeep was back in my hands, I realized that the base isn't the same. I searched and found a few similiar questions but zero answers. Anyone have a good idea?

My friend just bought newer seats for his older (89) and they don't fit either. What we were going to do is take the old brackets off his old seats and weld them to the new ones. We haven't done it yet so I don't know how it will work...Tj

I'm not sure of the difference in the mounting brackets since I haven't fooled with doing this, but I don't think it'd be that hard. As long as you bolt them down with some heavy material it should be good. You just want to make sure if you're in an accident that those bolts DON'T break.
