Never had anything newer than a 99. Bought an 01 over the weekend.
Are there any other considerations when it comes to the heating system, such as blend doors? Heat is lukewarm, haven’t been down the usual list, just want to have my ducks in a row.
The oil pressure only reads one thing, close to 5 psi no matter RPM. Are the sensors different from the 99?
P.O. stated he had to wiggle a multi pack connector on the firewall in proximity to the coil pack controller or whatever it’s called. I haven’t had an issue since I replaced the alternator, battery, and belt. Drove it 60 plus miles home with no issue.
I think that’s all for now, I’d like to add that this ain’t my first rodeo, have owned 15 XJ’s over the years, currently 6 and an MJ. Just never owned one that has coil packs. Don’t know how much is different….
I can only offer wave top advice based off of advice I see posted everyday.
the 5 PSI is low. 15-25 at idle on a completely warmed up engine. I’d start buy testing your gauge cluster. Hopefully your low end isn’t on its last leg.
the heat can be a clogged heater core. Check to make sure your vacuum is working correctly and the heat will blow in all positions. I’d flush the radiator/system and see if that helps.
the health of the coolant system is very important in 99-01 years. If you don’t have heat than this is the beginning to future problems if they don’t already exist.
Flush the heatercore, will likely restore the heat. As the for the oil pressure, check with a mech gauge before you do anything else as it could just be a bum sensor.

Also when you pull the sensor off to attach the mechanical tester clean out the hole.
Guys have reported it getting gunked up in there.

All good advice folks!! Thanks! I just didn’t know if Chrysler decided to toss in blend doors for the last year model.
As far as the head, I actually didn’t even look. I’ve read all the death to 0331 threads and didn’t even dawn on me. I have a couple spare engines laying around though lol.
The PO did replace the dash lights with LED’s, so that may be a source of gauge issues. I’m going to take a day off from work this week to start combing over the issues I’m experiencing. I shall report back later today or tomorrow.
