Default New kind of problem: HVAC controll

Had the jeep running, letting it warm up. Hope turned the fan control to defrost and the jeep dies. No power to anything. Sat there scratching my head and out of no where everything comes back. Drove to and from work without problem.

Messing around with the jeep today pulled the Hvac control from the dash and all the wires were together so there's not a short there. Plugged everything in and move the fan control and I could hear it putting a load on the engine like it was drawing power. Any ideas guys??

When i turn on the defrost on my 1999 it uses the air conditioning compressor. When the Jeep is idling with the A/C off but the defrost on i can hear the compressor cycle on and off. Hope this helps a little.

sounds like my next step is to pull the dash and see what's going on back there

Got a vacuum leak from behind the dash too. Don't know if the two things are related or not. Any ideas?
