New jeep need help
Ok guys this is my first post and would like to say hello.. I just bought this jeep with alternator issues so I bought a new one and I haven't installed it yet its sitting on the trailer.. But I tried changing the battery and start it to get it off the trailer but I mess with the ground and then I get power but when I try to turn it over it dies.. Any other ideas? I also would like to know the cheapest place to buy engine parts I need rocks a cam and then gaskets and push rods for a 93 high output.. Thanks for any suggestions

Hello. Welcome.
Sounds like you bought it with more issues than the alternator.
My guess would be that you just don't have a good enough connection on the terminals.
Clean them both really well, swap on the alternator, charge the battery and start it up.
Check out rockauto.com for fair priced Jeep parts.
Otherwise, the parts store has a bunch of parts.

Must be a pretty bad tick.
Might as well resurface the head and valve seats, replace the valve stems seals and all the gaskets while you're at it.

This is true...
The only thing you'd be neglecting by not rebuilding the whole thing are piston rings and all the bearings... and the oil pan gasket. What, 50 more bucks?

Good point I really dont wanna pull it though I can do the top half and not have to pull it. And if I did that is have to get a cherry pick from a friend and thats like a chore. Ill do the valves and stuff as well and check the pistons imma do a compression check before I take the head off.. And the ticks not horrible I plan on wheeling it for a little wile till I get the money to change everything at once.

You should get a factory service manual before starting any work on your Jeep. Don't rely on the Chilton or Haynes rags. I see some on evilbay but they need to be a real manual, not some repo. There are factory authorized versions available on CD/DVD.
