im looking to do some off roading for sure the xj i got isnt in great shape and bought it as just a learning experience and toy so ill end up running it hard to see what it can do
im also looking into plans for front and rear bumpers, sliders, and roof basket with gutter mounts not sure if i want my tire in the basket or on the rear bumper but
being im a steel fabricator by trade it shouldnt be hard to put these together quickly and have them look good

ok i checked my rear axel today to see which i have finally and looks to me as if i have a 8.25
looks pretty rusty and like the cover bolts will need to be replaced if they will even come out
is this a good rear end or would it be better to upgrade it before i even began this build as the lifts seem to vary with the axels
also how would i go about finding out what front axel i have or are they pretty standard
also just noticed my gas tank has a small leak any suggestion on a fix or where to get a new one

Welcome to the obsession. If you have the 8.25 you have a good axle. From being on this site and wheeling mine I have found that the d35 is a decent axle but does not stand up to heavy wheeling where the 8.25 has more strength over all. I have the RE 3.5 superflex lift and love it. But mine is a dd and used on the weekends. Hope this helps! Best of luck!
