Default new ideas

hey guys, i have a 96 xj 4.5inch lift and 31" tires.. i was looking at upgrades to my engine.. possibly bumping to a 6 inch with 33's but not for a while.. are there any decent upgrades/ mods i can do for a small budget?
i guess my question is what are possible mods after lift and tires?
im not really sure what i want to do.
any ideas?
thanks guys.

um you could do a high flow filter like k&n (i used spectre at autozone and got about a mile average mpg) and exhaust to help it breath better if you don't want it like a flowmaster try the dynomax kit $75 rebate and sounds better than stock but not as loud/aggressive as flowmaster. Also a general tune-up would be benificial

also you should have plenty of lift for 32's since your at 4.5 already (costs less than spacers new shocks and everything else needed for the 6 that the 4.5 wont fit like lca and trac bar) just a suggestion

is there a huge diffrence between a cold air intake and just a regular highflow filter? and do i have to change stock pipeing for just a regular highflow?

well with the high flow filter your getting a mix of warm and cold air....if your get a kit with either the cold air intake or just a highflow it should have everything you need...in my opinion the only true cold air intake is running a snorkel....even with a cold air intake your still gonna be sucking in some warm air...hope that helps a bit

yea i get ya the filter no just the same size as stock basically same filters but just stock box and piping, if i'm not mistaken the cold air intake sit at the same place and don't always include a heat sheild, unlike ones made for like civics and such which place the filter in like the bumper making them true cold air intakes bc no engine heat at filter and more clean are bc they are getting direct wind flow... lol so basically i dont see the cost in cai for jeep but if you go k&n cai (instead of just k&n filter) usually they do everything right and would include a heat sheild but also pretty expensive

if i remember right snorkle kits are like 400 bucks if not more last time i looked at one.. dont have that much cash atm..
i started to look at cold air intakes and most of them are like 220-300..
anyone ever hear of magnum force?
http://www.jcwhitney.com/magnum-forc.../p2012363.jcwx
anyone ever run this before?

edit: if i just use air pipeing from autozone and a highflow filter.. i could make my own heatshield.. but what could i make it with?

and to answer your question about the heat shield you could use some thin sheet metal that would work good
