Default New IAC...extremely high idle

Just installed a new Borg Warner IAC into my 97 XJ

It's now racing up to 3000 rpm and holding

How do I calibrate new sensor?

Thanks again for the help, Jacob

It could also be an intake leak.

I take it it didn't do that before the new IAC was put in... Correct?

I'm not familiar with that brand, where'd you get it?

How's your gasket from throttle body to intake manifold?

Fuel wouldn't keep up if there was an intake leak. IAC will not extend. I'm guessing in has to be calibrated

Intake leaks can cause high idle. Just so you know.

You also need to make sure that the shaft on the IAC is set at 1 1/8" from the mating surface to the pointed end of the shaft. To reset the IAC in the ECU, you need to drive it at 40mph for a few miles. Hope this helps, as I just went thru this myself.

If there is no leak and the IAC is in fact compatible, remove the positive terminal from the battery and touch it to ground for 30 seconds (any ground it will reach) then reinstall it on the battery. You may just need to clear out the computer and have it relearn. Again, this is provided there are no leaks. Good luck.
