New guy with timing chain tensioner question
First post for me. I have a '95 Cherokee Country with the 4.0 liter inline 6. I noticed this morning that there is a lot of noise coming from the front of the engine, and it sounds to me like timing chain slap, although I can't rule out bearing noise from one of the belt driven components either. I've had it for about 4 years, and it has 278,000 miles on it. I'm looking in the Jeep servicer manual that I got with the vehicle, and I can't find ANY reference at all to the tensioner. Also, I dont have the tools that are recommended to pull the balancer and the oil seal. Are there alternate ways to do this? Any help or advice on where to begin is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. Mike
