Default New Fuel Pump

I'm in need of a new fuel pump. I have already installed the neon injectors. I was wanting to know, if there was a new economical fuel pump out there, that I can purchase. That will help in increasing MPG. I have noticed some of these newer vehicles have lower gph flow rates, than my old 1996 jeep cherokee sport.

There is no magic fuel pump for your Jeep that will increase the MPG but still give you good performance. The only job of the fuel pump is to supply enough fuel to the engine, the ECM handles the rest by using sensors to tell it what is going on and it decides whats needed and tells the actuators what to do, like adjust the timing, fuel injector pulse time, and IAC position.

You get what you pay for with fuel pumps.

If you want the most reliable fuel pump for the XJ, go with Bosch. They aren't cheap, but are worth every penny. Carter is okay. I will not install nor will I recommend an Airtex fuel pump for the XJ.

OEM was either Bosch or Walbro, luck of the draw. If you change the entire assembly (not just the pump), make SURE it's for a 96. The pressure regulator is not the same as 95 or 97. It's 96 only.
