Default new flywheel center holes dont line up?

went and ordered a new flywheel for my AX-15 swap in my 89 comanche... there computer says this is the right one... saw it myself... and used to work there so i know he looked it up right... ordered it... went to install today and the center bolt holes arnt right? holes are offset from each other or something? the 96's ax15's flywheel bolts right up but i need the BA10's... sucks i threw my old one away... wished i knew i needed it instead... where the Inline 6's center holes ever changed? surely not? this must be a whole different cars flywheel or something? but any help would be great! thanks!

Travis, did you try rotating the flywheel one hole each time to verify one is not offset?

I seem to remember something about a pattern change in 95.. but perhaps that was a Torque Convertor i'm thinking of.

naw i got it... i figured the flywheels to be balanced out... meaning the bolts would be evenly spaced... nope... i tried lining different holes up before... thought i did all of them but when i stuck the 96's back up there it didnt line up either... so i knew then that the bolts are not equally spaced around the flywheel... which is weird... so i stuck the knew one up there and eventually found the right line up... so its on now... oh well... this is my first manual tranny install so im learnin this on my own as i go... ive done a dozen motors and trannys but none were ever manuals for some reason...

when i tighted the clutch up to the flywheel it pinches the inner disks in there correct? so it shouldnt be spinning or moving? and i used the alignment tool as i tightened it up... and then removed it and its all froze in place now... i think thats right... i really wanna know what the hole is on top of the tranny before i install it... but i may have to worry about it later... thanks guys!!

thats what it was man... i just thought they would be evenly spaced for balancing reasons... guess not... in fact when i installed the 96 on there a few weeks ago... i had the bolt holes line up the first hit... so that made me think even more they were spaced the same... oh well...

Yes, the clutch disc is not supposed to move.. not unless the pedal is depressed pushing the ears/fingers on the pressure plate to let it freewheel.

Your good to go since you used the alignment tool. Throw some grease in the crank inside pilot bearing while it's out.. not too much.
