New compressor hard to turn by hand

New compressor hard to turn by hand
As the title states. I just got a new compressor for my 2001 cherokee but it's pretty much impossible to turn by hand. it does turn smoothly with a socket. My old one easily turns by hand. Is this normal or should I send this one back? Thanks in advance.

Its new and needs to brake in that will happen in a day or two , turn it about 10 times with a socket before you turn it on when charging the system , that is to move the oil out of the pistons .
