Default new coil. no spark.

Our Jeep has been having issues cranking and cutting off for a few weeks. Yesterday, 5 minutes from home, it cut off and would never crank back up. Had to be pulled home. Replaced coil. But no spark from coil. Everything I read says CPS. Any other suggestions? How do I check to see if coil is getting power? If the coil is not getting power, what's the next step?

Do a search on here on how to check out the CPS. It does sound like that is your problem.

There is a landfill someplace that is full of perfectly good ignition coils.

lol, I have a few sitting in my garage...

OP it really helps to state what year you have, renix, odb1, and odb2 all use different sensors with different methods of testing.

We have tried 2 new crankshaft position sensors and still not running. I thought I put that this is a 1997 Jeep Cherokee SE

Also replaced rotor, stator, distrib cap, plugs, some wires....and now the fuse box(under the hood) is making a strange new noise.

what is the new noise? where is it coming from?

Also, there is this awesome magnetic pick up under the rotor that controls the spark. I know that is what was causing issues on a Jeep my friend had. and we were just throwing random sensors at it until we came across that.

But he had the same issue. It would run fine then shut off. after a few hours it would start again but got worse to the point of only cranking.

Got it running! Still seems like we have an issue. Slow reaction time when pressing the gas and it still cuts off while driving... But it does start up and drive now!
