New bearings with out pulling motor?
2000 4.0 worn bearings due to cracked head. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck on replacing the main and rod bearings with the motor still in the jeep. Seems like there would be enough room under there.

Thanks for the link. Kinda scared me a little bit. I didnt think about the camshaft bearings being worn. That Jasper motor is looking better and better. I dont have any lift. There seems to be some room under there though. Front differential is the only thing in the way really. There could be a lot more jacking the motor up a little.

yeah it can definitely be done in the jeep. If it's not lifted just jack up the frame and let the front axle droop so you can get the oil pan off.
once the cap is off the bottom half comes off, and the top half you can slide out, and then slide in the new one.
The crank bearings are usually the ones that get damaged when the head leaks, not the cam bearings. You'll probably be fine letting those be.

this thread makes me feel better.
i have the same oil pressure issues and i was posting about it like a madman last week. i knew the worst case scenario was shot bearings, but i was led to believe replacing those meant taking out the engine for a full rebuild. its nice to know that if this weekend's oil pump/sending unit/oil change plans dont fix the issue, ive got another route to go before a $$$$$ rebuild
