Alright so tomorrow I'm replacing the aw4 transmission in my 89 cherokee with aw4 from a 90 cherokee. I know the transmission will fit n all. But does anyone have any suggestions for me? Or if I do what my hanes manual says and ill be fine? Just looking for advice.

Got a floor jack and a extra set of hands? I used this method on a 2wd dodge ram. Wasn't as good as a tranny jack but beats a goose egg on the head if it falls. Make sure you put a 2x4 under the pan so you don't crush it

disconnect the kick down cable from the transmission, get it out of the way. Remove the inspection flex plate. Under that will be your torque converter bolts. They are like a 15mm I believe. Unplug all your wire connectors granny lines and everything else connected to the tranny and dipstick tube. remove the drive shaft. Unplug all wires from t case(if you have one)Remove the transfer case(if you have one) put a jack under tranny and take out all the bolts around the bellhousing. Remove the crossmember and Easly let the jack down. You'll also have to pull the transmission towards the rear. It has these peg things it sits in for alignment.

B4 you get the new tranny in change all the seals on the outside. Rear seal that the t case/drive shaft goes into and the seal that the torque converter goes into. It's a round seal. pry it out with a flat screw driver and tap the new one in with a wooden hammer handle. Make sue the round seals get in there straight. And I would change the rear t case seal also. When putting stuff into the seals like torque converters and drive shafts dab your finger in transmission fluid and cover the ends of the shafts with tranny fluid so you don't tear your new seals
