I've seen this mod before (good writeup, btw) but the one thing every write-up lacks is WHY. I don't get how this works. Clearly I'm missing something, but can someone please explain how routing tubes through your firewall from the air box will do... anything? I don't get what I'm looking at.

But...doesn't the fresh air normally come from a scoop behind the grill? I don't understand how this would help except to relocate the intake higher by a few inches. When it rains does water get into the intake tubes? Help me understand!

yes but that lil scoop begind the grill, you have the radiator in front, or parcialy in fron, and it pretty much sucking hot air from the engine bay, in this you relocate the intake to an area that is out of the engine bay and sucks air fron the outside wich is colder.. it does not take water when it rains bc it drains on time, in the other hand its not a scoop system so dont go into big deep water with it. hope this helps.. the theory is colder air, happy engine.

Default enough air??

I'm interested. Looks great, but is it enough air? Did u calculate square inches to make sure? Just wondering? Is this just for snorkling purposes?
If so? Your not worried about water coming in through the duct tape where the old hole was?? maybe I over think things? I am gonna do something with my intake as soon as I get my oil in the filter problem solved? But, for now just not going to mess with it.

I suggest you get a 2.5" tubing, instead of the 3 diff tubes,, and yeah its enough air, , about the duck tape part, I made a mess with it inside the box, so its air tight,,,
