Actually, K&N are good filters. Paying for the nut is kinda dumb though.

I didn't really pay attention to it until now. I do get that clunky start sometimes and the knocking has gotten worse since I started using them. Before I had my XJ my dad always had the oil changed at Tires Plus.

I went to orielly and they had a deal on oil and filter for like $22 it came with a wix filter which i never heard of them so i will have to see if i am still using that filter or if i have switch to dif one. i usually always go with w/e the sell is at the time i go in.

But i will for sure be using a wix filter for now on because everyone is telling me they are the best.

Default my best fram story

When i was 18 i rebuilt a 68' bug (not restored, i do not beleve in calling any thing that is not 100% original or nos restored) any way i decided to add an oil filter to the motor i built for it. The second oil change i decided to try a new (at the time) fram filter with slick 50. One cold morning my younger brother was late for school and hoped in the bug and took off. He reved it up to pull forward and heard a bang. After cussing me and my work he found the filter cap blown off the base, laying beside the filter adapter and all 2.75 gallons of oil spread all over my new motor. Needless to say some one did not make it to school on time.

Good wrenching everyone

I have the Tough guard both on my Jeep and Ford Taurus. It was weird because when I got the Fram X-tended Guard my engine was running horrible. Switched to Tough Guard and it started running fine and my little lifter tick or whatever you called it was gone. Time for a tune up on my Taurus and on my Jeep so I might as well change to something else.

Not the best.... But better then most and cheap! Mobil 1 and purolator. I read a ton of other reviews now and got some good some bad about stp. The biggest gripe seems to be the combined anti drainback/pressurize relief.... Causing dry starts. So far I haven't had this but if I do I will change back to wix or Mobil.

There are other oil filters out there that are good. Wix and Napa Gold are easy to find, so I use them. I posted this link in an earlier post and it's quite an eye-opener. We have no idea what's inside the filters becuase we buy on trust in the manufacturer. Fram has lost my trust. This guy did the legwork for us.

FWIW, I'm still in contact with one of my buddies from the old JeepTech and I asked him what he would use. It was coincidental but he'd just done a project for Chrysler Engineering on standardizing oil filters. He told me he uses Wix on all his personal cars. Good enough for me.

Well, since I work at a GM dealership (dont hate the stealership) I use an AC Delco PF13, I think the bigger size is a PF2. Never a problem on either of my XJ's. One has 145 k miles and the other has 105 k miles and been using AC Delco's on them since I got them at 50 k miles or so. Just sayin'.

Caish, that's the one I thought I had a link to in Post #27. Just realized it wasn't there and added it just as you posted. LOL
