so i have been poking around and all a seem to find is info on older nss' additionaly this is an expensive part to replace, now i have found a reverse/neutral safety swtitch ranging anywhere from $150 to upwards $400. but i also found them to where it is an identical looking part, minus the switch for the reverse lights, (well thats what i'm asuming the differnce is, that or auto vs. standard tranny) for like $50. so i was wondering if anyone knew what the differance is because i'm not very computer saavy and just cant seem to find the differance. also, if there is a wawy to bypass this, without throwing the electronic shifting out of whack... that wuold be even bettter because, well its winter time in NE ohio, and when you work construction, cold and snow mean no work, but jeepin fun... except mine seems to be in hibernation. thnks

I found a remanufactured one on ebay for $60.Don't know what was done to it but was clean and worked

anybody else looking for a NSS fix do a little more searching there is a way to splice 2 of the NSS wires on the body side of the plug to override the NSS and just wire in a switch for the reverse lights. I'm sure the more hardcore guys will tell me i'm wrong and the NSS controls more than just the starting/reverse lights, however I did this fix on my 94 and it works flawlessly, no change in shift pattern, mpgs or anything else for that matter. just remember to turn on and off the reverse lights when not/or in use. I've been laughed at several times by buddies for riding 5+ miles with my reverse lights on. go ahead and tell me I"m wrong if you like but mine works beutifully and saved me buying a new one since the PO (previous owner) already broke the NSS casing and wired in a reverse light switch.

 

and it makes sense if the part is broken and the replacement part is so expansive, but in all honesty it a really easy fix, the main problem is that the spring electrodes get stuck in the wiper arm, it easy to pull it out, pull it apart and clean, regrease and reinstall and then its done the right way
