Default need some help. guage and blowing fuse problem!

i have a 96 cherokee sport and i bought it cheap cause the gauges werent working. before i bought it i searched online and found out it is kinda common and is most likely the connection behind the cluster or the underhood light.
well i got it home and disconnected the underhood light and put a new fuse in the iod fuse spot under the hood. everything works! right on! untill the next day it blew again. will the cluster connection cause the fuse to blow????
its weird cause i can take a 30amp fuse and set it in there, it will spark (like there is a short somewhere) then be good. its like it resets something, i then can put a 15amp fuse back in and everything will work perfect or a few hours.
does anyone know what else to check?? electrical is a pain in the butt!

so far i found out that it could be
underhood light - i already disconnected
connection for the cluster - but i havent heard of this blowing fuses

I would try a 20 amp fuse if its possible the oe fuse was a time delay style but putting in a little bigger fuse won't hurt but 30 is way to big. Time delay fuses are rated to be over rated for a set amout of time then they will blow . They work good for a area were inrush current could be higher than operating current , like on a start up. You would need to hit up a supply warehouse to get a good TD fuse.

If your going to replace a 15 amp fuse with a 30, keep a fire extinguisher nearby.

i deffiantly didnt leave the 30 amp in there. i actually put a 15 amp circuit breaker in there and it has been good besides one time where it tripped then reset itself.

until tonight, i went to walmart to get groceries and when i got home i opened the back hatch all the interior likes worked and everything like usual. then about 2 minutes later the lights went out and started tripping the breaker and wouldnt stop so i pulled the breaker outta the fuse box

i guess i will mess with the hatch tomorrow and see if i can find anything in there.

has anyone had problems there before?? i know i have never read anything about it
