Default need some advice.

so my battery died yesturday and i thought well if the battery died then the alt must of been bad. So i went out and bought a yellow top battery, new alt, and new starter.

installed everything and Man was that alt a PITA but im glad i got it out of the way.

well when i started the car i noticed that the elec fan or aux fan turned on with in min of the car being turned on and still cold. ( if u are standing in front of the car its the fan to the right) i thought that fan only tured on once it hit 200. So im guessing my car is running open loop.

So i unpluged the fan and the car hit one line over 100 so im guessing 150. this is the hottest the car has been and once i turned on the heat it droped down to i gues maybe 130 or 120 while driving. I haven changed my thermostat yet but just waiting for a better day and warmer day to do it.

i just dont get it. should i change temp sensor as well. Where is that located.

How do i know my car is running open loop, closed loop, the car idles fine dont sputer or anything. the heat gets warm but not hot.

also could i have s electical bug some place or something?

please help.

thank you

mayko.

I would replace the coolant temp sensor first. That is the common possibility for everything.

I don't know about your electrical problem but as far as your temp is concerned, your running way too cool if your gauge is correct. Should be running right around 180-210 at operating temp. Ground out the wire that goes to your temp sensor, if your gauge pegs, its operating correctly. This narrows it down to a couple things, a faulty temp sender, or someones installed an incorrect T-stat, if I remember correctly it should be a 195.

Question about your question. You say the fan came on when you started it, did you have the defroster on? The fan comes on automatically whenever A/C or defrost are on.
