need shackle help

Default need shackle help

I am putting a nice new set of shackles on my xj I did one side it went great but the other side is another story the top built holding the factory shackle to the jeep refuses to be loosened all the way I can back it out a couple inches but then it just turns and turns I know I'm going to have to force it the rest of the way out but I am not sure just what to use to do that thanks in advance

Relieve tension on the bolt by jacking the leaf spring up (from underneath) or down (using a bottle jack on top). Put a 3/4" or so open-end wrench behind the bolt head and use leverage against the shackle bracket.

Edit: I don't know why that thumbs-down is up there^, didn't mean to insert it.

Sounds like the bushing sleeve is seized to the bolt. First just try heating it to see if that will loosen it up. If not then wait for it to cool and use some good penetrating oil like a PB Blaster and soak the bolt in it. If that fail and you're not going to use the shackle again you can just cut the center and go from there.

remove back bumper i thinkyou can get to the weld nuts and threads and spray the **** out of them with pb blast

Just a update, I was able to get hold of the bushing sleeve with a pair of vicegrips, thanks for the help
