So here shortly going to remove the oil pan to fix the leaky gasket as well as the rear main seal. I'll check the flywheel bolts while its apart. What I am looking for is some opinions on what other "preventative" items should be done while all that's apart? Basically put yourself In my shoes, what else would you take care of while your under there? Thanks guys & gals!

Not sure there is much more to do there in terms of preventative maintenance. Maybe check your oil pick up screen and ensure it is not clogged. Clean it up if it is.
Before you put the oil pan back on don't forget to put back the bearing cap brace. You would have to remove the pan again and do it all over. Ask me how I know..

I know it's difficult to see everything, but you should use a bright flashlight and try to examine each camshaft lobe for uneven wear, examine each piston skirt for cracks, each pistion pin boss for cracks, and each cylinder wall for deep scratches. You'll need to rotate the crank two complete revolutions to see everything. The pistons move in pairs so you'll be able to check pistons and cylinder walls two at a time.
If you see black plastic chunks in the oil pan, that's the timing chain damper.
Edit: Examine the oil pump pick up tube where it enters the pump for being dislodged. It's easy to dick that thing up when removing or installing the oil pan.
