I like the BDS kits they are a little on the pricy side but they can take abuse.

On stock leaf packs it sucks. I hated the ride of mine on stock leaf packs..On new leaf packs it should be good.

Umm...rusty's kits do not consist of high quality parts. They are more like china-made parts.

In the 2-3" lift range you'll need for 31's--go with OME. Best quality ride. Won't require t-case drop, brake lines, long arms or new shafts.

Top quality stuff.

OME is overrated and overpriced. Rusty's is actually more made in canada- all my shocks and leafs said said in canada on them.

Best kit? Get the RE 4.5" SF but substitute 3.5" springs and get RE monotube or Bilstein shocks.

budget boost for 2 inches and trimming your fenders would be the cheapest way. ZJ springs/S10 leaves from junkyard, or make your own leaf packs...theres lots of ways to fit 31's. Also, less lift = lower center of gravity, which is a good thing.

I think most who actually spent $600-800 on a 2.5 lift kit will disagree with the first half of your statement.

Overpriced.....you can by a less expensive kit. You can get more lift for the same price. I don't think you'll find a better 2-3" lift kit. How much more you are willing to spend is a matter of perceived value.

My first time hearing about old man emu was at 4wd hardware. The guy at the desk told me if you wanted the best ride quality, go with OME but it's pricey. I said what the hell and gave it a try. he was right. No other kit i had up to today matched the ride quality of old man emu. You may think it's overrated and overpriced but dude, it's the quality of the kit and how it rides that counts, not what you can get out of that much $$. Of course you can go with a 4.5" kit with that kind of cash but you are not going to get a soft ride from any 4.5" kit. Take an AAL kit from RE, RC, Pro-Comp, Skyjacker, or 4wd hardware and add it to your kit. It'll ride rough and more likely sag over time. Take the OME AAL and add it to your spring pack. It will not ride rough and lift your vehicle 1.5"-2". That's quality over cheapness.

You can get a 42" Apex tv for $600 or a 42" Phillips tv for $800. If you wanted the best quality, visual, and durable tv, you'd take phillips even though both tv's are the same size. It's the same thing with Old Man Emu.

BUT-

have you ridden in say, a RE equipped jeep with OME shocks? its pretty much the same. BTW any AAL (a good one) added to a new-ish lift leaf pack will give you lift and it won't sag prematurely.

You could do a @ 2" budget boost (OME makes a good one) and trim the fenders particullarly if you are going to go bigger in the future.

no i havent but from what those who did said it rides so much better with OME shocks. that shows quality right there. RE makes good kits but they are like every other manufactuer, one spring for that lift. OME offers different springs for different setups so you have a variety of options to fit your vehicle needs or driving style. if you tow alot, get the HD springs with overload. if you have accessories like bumpers or spare tire carrier then opt for medium duty or HD witout overload. if its stock then you can get the light duty springs. this may not be a factor to you but some people take this into consideration whe choosing springs.

dont get me wrong, RE is great and one of the best but you gotta give credit to OME for their quality and options they provide. there is so much good hype about RE as there is about OME cuz both are excellent lift maufacturers.
