Ok, I'm talking to a guy about his cherokee for sale or trade on craigslist.
He said it runs warm and needs an exhaust. I am not worried about the exhaust issue, but am wondering what it could be that would cause it to run warm?
Also if you can give me an estimate on what you think it might cost to fix whatever issue it is that could cause it to run warm. My uncle can do the work for me for free so just need the estimated price of the part
Thanks

a little info on the jeep would help. like year and engine. knowing if it is open or closed cooling be be beneficial to a possible diagnosis.
and it could be as simple as needing the cooling system flushed to something like a head gasket. just need more info. and if your uncle is a decent wrench turner then you should have him take a peek at it.

Ok well from the info in the add, its a 1990 cherokee with the 4.0 straight six of course, with a 3.5in skyjacker lift. Thats all the info given in the add, so I talked to him and he mentioned these 2 issues. Thats all I know

t-stat $5
water pump $30-50
radiator $100
e-fan $100-150
fan clutch $ 40

chances are you wont need all of this. start with the t-stat the cheapest and work your way up to the most expensive if you get it and make sure you burp the cooling system if you change any of this or you will have an air bubble and ur xj will over heat and shut down in like 5 mins

the 90 has the closed cooling system.

convert it to an open-system style

i think moroso has the filler neck for like 20 and you can pick up a cheap overflow bottle for around 10-15

old overflow could. years of pressure and heat will weaken it
