Default Need an honest mechanic in the pdx area.

I just drove my rusty new york jeep to portland.
I recently started hearing some "clickityclack" coming from the rear wheel.
Then the front caliper seized up (eventually smoking my brakes pretty good by the time I got home.)

I went a got a free brake check from les schwab. (hey, it was free.)
My rear drums are crumbling with rust (about 2 handfulls sprinkled to the ground when the guy finally got the drum off.)
And the front calipers are pretty shot as well.
The brake pads, though, were just fine.

They quoted me at roughly $700 for an all around brake job which is laughable to say the least.

Im normally a do-it-yourselfer but this seems like a huge job. Drums, shoes, calipers, rotors, pads, flush.
Does anyone know an honest mechanic in the portland area, or want to take on this task for me?
Im no mechanic, just a girl that loves her jeep.

much appreciated.

Fronts aren't a bad job. Rears can be a pain as there are lots of parts. You will need a 2.5 ton jack and jack stands. A decent mechanics socket set. Honestly I wouldn't start with brakes as your first DIY project.

Brake doctors. There a hell of a lot better priced and they are extremely helpful. Ive used them many times. The Vancouver location sponsered one of my drift cars awhile back. But ive gone to them for years anything clutch or brake related if Im to lazy to do it myself or two busy like I am now u go to them. The one in Vancouver is the one I go to. A lot of the time the owner is there hes an older guy and a talker so I can sit there for hours b.s.ing with him.

Good luck!
