Default NEED HELP>> Wont Start/Run

Hey guys, been reading this forum for a long time and know there are a lot of smart people out there and i really need some of that knowledge.

I have a 95 XJ Sport 4.0l 4x4 180,000k. Went out this morning (live in Ohio..Very cold last night) and cranked, fired, and died. I repeated the process until i was sure that it wasnt going to stay running. If i held the throttle open, it would run briefly, at the higher RPM, but then die out again in just about the same amount of time as when the throttle was left in normal position. I have no idea what could be going on. Naturally, i hear the fuel pump prime when i turn the key to run position, and know i have spark as it does fire (runs for less than a second) before cutting out. I feel like this is fuel related, but if it were fuel pump not sure if it would fire at all.

Reasonably mechanically inclined, need to know thoughts and where to start checking. ANY AND ALL HELP APPRECIATED

Things i have replaced within last month

Plugs
Wire
Cap
Rotor
Fuel Filter
Battery

Sure sounds like a fuel problem to me.

But just so's you can say you did... I'd look for any codes that might be stored in the computer. Just use the On-Off-On-Off-On sequence with the ignition key, and count the flashes of the Check Engine light.

Let us know what you find.

Well, this is a save all question, How gas do you have in your tank? If you are under say 1/4 to 1/8th of a tank, the is a HUGE possiblity that you have water in your tank and it froze..

The jeep has probabaly about half a tank in it... however, i did a lot of snow crawling (climbing the big piles of snow in parking lots) and it put my jeep at 45 plus degree angles at times, in that case it would have collected and moisture on the top of the tank as it slushed.

That being said, would it be frozen/blocked up in the tank/fuel pump itself, of perhaps in the filter or lines heading to the rail

Thanks for the responses... in class right now about to dive into it.

I had this problem a couple weeks ago. Check your ignition switch....my harness plug was shot and burned the terminal where the red + wire plugs in, so I ended up cutting the wires one by one and putting them on a new switch. Problem solved!
