it has to be either the battery or the solenoid, the hold-in windings in the solenoid arent getting enough voltage to keep the plunger in to engage the starter, my money is on the solenoid, i had the same issue on my 89 heep lol it is cheap and easy to do

Is the solenoid the box next to the igniton switch?

no the solenoid is actually on the starter it is the smaller can shaped thing lol, there are two screws on the nose side of the starter, you have to take the starter out to change it, just make sure you dont lose the spring or any other parts when you take it out, just take your time its easy, the part is only like 20 bucks

I ended up buying a new starter and still nothing. the problem seems to just get worse and worse with everything i change.

aaahhhhh now i have to drive the weekend car to work and school good thing it's supposed to be dry this week.

where is the clicking coming from? can you have someone listen and look
while you or he try to start it? could be the starter relay in the fuse box.
