Need help wiring an overhead console
I bought a console from my local junk yard, and I'm having slight problems getting it to work. There are three connectors one big black, one small black, and one small red. The two black where plugged in, the red one was not when I got to it. My jeep has a different small black connector but the other 3 are the same, does the red one need plugged in? The connector in my jeep is already taken. The small black connector in my jeep has only 2 wires and I spliced into the other two, where do the extra 2 go? And finally it has 2 pink wires that I think may be power I need to know what they are ? My jeep is a 96 Cherokee.

Check the for sale section. I believe there are a few harnesses listed on there. What year overhead console did you grab? there where a couple of different models with different compass/temperature modules used. After '93 they included MPG's into the module. Also is it with or without Key-less entry?

Could be the wires that go to the front doors, when they open the front overhead map lights come on. Try grounding the two pink wires. like completing the circuit, when the doors opened. The front map lights have three positions (Hit the switch three times. On all the time, On when the doors open, or off. And i believe that is the same wire color as the door plunger type actuating switch. I don't remember what they are really called.
