Ok so I stopped for tonight but still have a few more ?s. I'm going from a 241 to a 231 tcase the 241 has a an electric plug right next to the speed sensor that I don't know what it do and the 231 has the same thing but with 4 vacuum lines now they have different thread lengths so I spaced out the 241 electric one that was longer with washers and put a new oring on it and put it right in to the 231 case because I don't have the vacuum lines to run the sensor but I would really like to know what it is for I would take pics and post but my computer is broken so doing this on the phone

The vacuum lines goto to the cetner axle disconnect if your jeep is so equipped.
The electric could goto a 4x4hi/4x4lo light?
I'd have to crawl under the 96 to look at it, and thats not going to happen right now. Got an SHO Taurus in the shop replacing the valve cover gaskets on right now.

You think an XJ is hard to work on? Try and SHO taurus. Its like going from a 57 Chevy points and carb, to working on a Ferrari for comparison. REAL PITA in other words.
