Default need help with stereo wiring please.

so i had this radio in my explorer and now im trying to put it in my jeep, i hooked it up in my explorer before so i know it works. i figured i just matched the colors of the wires up but i think there are some missing from my jeeps adapter. it came with the jeep and plugs right into the factory plug but it doesnt have a black wire for the ground. does anyone know the color codings for the 89 cherokee? im plugging it into a kenwood deck and id really like to figure this out. thanks

If memory serves me I believe that the ground wire is seperate- a single black wire all by itself. The antenna should give you a ground too, but otherwise just run a new wire to the bottom of the dash.

your memory is right i have redone quite a few xj stereos the ground is a separate random wire should have a female blade style connector on it otherwise just run a wire to the dash cowl it is similiar to factroy wiring that way

Also what are those other red wires i see your antenna wire but are their extra aftermarket speakers in the system as well? Could be your ground isn't there and the black wires are for the negative leads of the speakers

the red ones are for the two front speakers. the po did that for some reason but i already checked and they ran two red wires to each so idk what one is the negative for either haha i guess its true when they say just expect electrical problems haha

Ok well no offense if he is on this forum but he was an idiot for running two red for each that could mess your stereo up if the wires are backwards... did you trace the black wires?
