DO NOT REMOVE THE FRONT SWAY BAR IF YOU DRIVE ON ROAD AT ALL! It is so dangerous to you and everybody around you to drive without a front sway bar on the road. Hate to say it but there isnt much you can do about the body roll, only thing that comes to mind is maybe you have bad shocks and bushings, could always replace them.

that was my thinking... bushings, bearings, tie rod ends, all that good stuff. My wife's wagoneer doesn't have that much body roll. My 97 did though, hopefully when I'm finished with this lift it'll be closer to what my wife's xj drives like... lol

i think u might have something there. i might opt for some new shocks and bushings. my only comparison is my dodge that can almost walk on water. so i think i might be comparing two completely different animals.

look under it and see... the 8.25 has a flat ledge on the bottom, the D35 does not.

Your body roll may be due to worn or non functional shocks. Check that and leave the swaybars unless you plan it to be a trail only vehicle.

Assuming you don't lift it ... it's hard to argue with some good shocks like the Bilstein 5100s. If you do lift it .... consider something like the Old Man Emu, Rubicon Monotube, or Edelbrock IAS shock.
I would suggest shocks and new sway bar bushings (you can get the bushings from Moog at just about any parts store). Might be amazed in the difference of the ride quality.

Start with the sway bar. Loose/soft bushings there can sometimes translate to vague steering input. A wheel alignment and proper tire pressure will also have a dramatic affect on steering feel. Changing the gear box really won't do much of anything for you. Start with the basics.
By nature, the Saginaw boxes used in the Jeeps have a lighter feel than the Rack & Pinion that your Dakota has.

Addco does make good stuff ... but I really don't think that it is justified in this case. Figure that Jeep is 10 years old now. I'm sure it's going to need some replacement parts. The money he spends on a heavier bar ... can pay for better shocks.
Just my opinion .. and not trying to flame you.
