You may have an air bubble in there, "Burp" the cooling system. Do a search and you will find the answer...Tj

i had the same problem in my 96 about 2 weeks ago. you probably have air in the system. you need to bleed the air out

yea mine got to the 3/4 mark. i parked the front on a sidewalk, took rad. cap off, turned heat on high, and kept rad. full while i revved it up with my hand, after a few minutes air began to bubble out and it did it for about 10 mins and then no more air and no more problems.

Could be the fan clutch is shot, try turning off the engine and see how many times the fan spins (should only spin a few times) if it keeps going and going like the energizer bunny..lol, its shot...Tj

If the heater core and blower motor are pulling enough heat off to cool the motor, it sounds to me like the radiator and/or belt fan are not. It doesn't take much crud to kill the heat removing efficiency of a radiator. That's where I'd start to look. '96+ should be self burping, if the rad cap is functioning correctly. With the ENGINE COLD, remove the rad cap and make sure coolant is up in the neck of the rad. If not, systems got air and rad is low on coolant.
