Question Lots of heat by my feat...why?

In my 97 there is an abundance of heat coming out of the vent thats by the gas pedal. The heat is totally turned off and their isn't any AC. Whats going on? I find it hard to imagine that every XJ blows this hot all the time.

any ideas?

Bad heater control valve or stuck vent door.

Mine does the same thing. I just switch it to the vents and it stops toasting my toes.

yea but if i put it on the vents, then im going to have all the heat just blowing on my face. Its still going to be hot when it shouldnt be. Is there any actual remedy or do i have to just man up and suffer through the heat?

If it's actually blowing then you've got s problem with your blower motor. In my case, of I leave it so if it was on then it would be blowing ony feet, but it's supposed to be off, I still feel heat coming from the floor vent. If I switch it to the dash vents, rthen I don't get heat from the floor or the dash vents. That's my solution, may or may not work for you.

mine does the same thing, but only when the windows are down.
been doing it since 2000...
same deal, all a/c - heat settings set to off... yet heat blows out the drivers side floor vent... blower motor off, flow of air dependant on vehicle speed.

if I turn it to vent or defrost then that is where the hot air goes... if I turn the a/c on it works properly with no heat coming in at the feet.

wish I knew how to fix.
