I was driving today and saw a snow covered hill that I wanted to climb, put it in 4hi and proceeded up the hill there was a little bouncing but it seemed pretty normal. After climbing the hill something didn't seem right but I had to go to work. As I drove there was a little like knocking what seemed like under me, after I got off it was a lot worse, I could have it in drive but sitting still and it sounded like something was rotating/grinding and the thumping was much worse. Any help is greatly appriceated.

 

It is very possible that your T-Case is looking like mine...

When I look at it it looks perfectly fine. What happened with yours

 

4.56:1 gear in the rear, stock gear up front. I engaged the 4 wheel drive 2-3 times to get out of some muck and it made grinding noises everytime. Coming back from a road trip at 70mph in 2H and the T-Case exploded... shot sparks and the front drive shaft was spinning and clunking under my seat. You see some of the damage in the pic. Two large holes in the case, drive shaft separated and the t-case chain busted into several pieces. I had to remove my front shaft.

 

Dang that sucks

 

Ok so I'm trying to get the cover off of it and there is that little bolt on the top it has been soked in pb, any suggestions

 

If your stopped, that would tell me its something with the clutch your xfer case does not rotate if your stopped

 

It's automatic but it was like something was still spinning
