Just got my 88 xj today and was checking everything out and the brake lights dont work. Either of them. I checked the 15 amp fuse under the dash it was good. As well as both the bulbs. What else should i check?

needs replaced or plugged back in. check it for power in and power out. could just be a broken wire.

My brake pedal switch became intermittent, end of Dec. Sprayed lots with carb cleaner, attempting to clean up the interior contact surfaces. Soaked it. Wiped up the puddle, let the rest evap with the doors open, been workin good since, brake lights workin every time.

I got tired of having to do that so I fabbed my own switch from a rear window switch from a ford bronco. took me a while to get it to work, but it's nice when I'm wheeling, I can just unplug the switch put it in the glove box and go. no chance of me messin up the switch that way. when I'm done wheeling plug it in and go home.

do your hazards work? i had the same problem. it turns out there is a red wire by my battery terminal just hanging down and i put it to the positive side of the battery and connected it there and it made my brake lights and hazards work again
