i have a 1997 cherokee sport 4.0 inline 6cyl i was driveing home from work and i put it to the floor then came to a red light and it wanted to go so i put it in nutral and the rpms went up to like 2 ,2 1/2 then i put in back in gear to go and now it will not shift until almost 5 rpm it did it before when i put it to the floor but let it sit and it was fine this time it didnt go away can any one help me

something like this happened to me but it didnt want to shift so it may not be the same thing. Check to make sure the throttle cable near the intake end is nice and tight and pulling back to idle position. The spring thing that pulled it back appeared to be worn out. So i stretched it out further to tighten the coil and clamped it back on and it fixed it for me. Hope this helps.
