Guys I'm broke down on the side of I 30 in Arkansas and here's my symptoms: massive overheating, white smoke out of tailpipe for miles, and white smoke pouring from my head. 1998 Cherokee, i6 4.0, when I bought it a few months ago he guy said he had a new to this jeep motor in it, did I catch a 0331 headed motor?

Certainly sounds like at least a head gasket.

And whenever I press the gas the engine starts clicking really loudly. I'm about to check the oil for coolant too

Oh and it boiled over on me a few miles back but I waited until it cooled down and topped it back off before this mess started

White smoke is coolant getting in the exhaust, the engine either has a cracked block internally or a head gasket.

If you can stop driving it, that would be best.
Sounds like you need to do a major overhaul on that motor.

with all that you've described, it's no longer safe to continue to drive, get it towed home or to a place to have the work done.

Just out of curiosity, before you started driving did you check all the fluids?

and as for the "0331" head, I doubt it- Jeep put them in 6/99+ 4.0 motors. BUT since the previous owner messed with it... anything could be a possibility.

All the fluids were new within a week, tranny, oil, power steering fluid, coolant, brake fluid everything. And I did managed to have it trailered home safely, got a friend of mine that lived close to where I broke down to haul it for me. Guess diagnosis and work starts tomorrow! Good excuse for a stroker now

Given the symptoms and driving the car like that for a few miles, I think you'll need to dig a big hole and bury that motor. The 0331 head question is fairly academic at this point. RIP.
