Default Need Help ASAP!

I have a 96 XJ Country, and yesterday I was putting in speakers late at night, I had to use the inside lamp for light and thus the battery died. I jumped it and it worked fine last night, except the battery would die within 5 minutes after charging for 10. This morning the car wouldn't start again so I had to get a jump but this time it would barely turn over even with jumper cables attached. Eventually it did but now everytime I take my foot off the gas and the RPM's dip below 1k it just dies. Any Reason?????? Any responses would help need to get it running again ASAP.

you drained your battery too much.. maybe get a new batter.. maybe it needs water.. maybe it needs to charge longer

I agree, your battery may have been on "it's last leg". Draining it may have done it in. You can always go to an automotive store like AutoZone and have it tested. But I would almost assure you that you need a new battery.

Not sure I just bought the truck about 3 weeks ago thats what freaks me out! The only thing I don't want to do is but a battery and have that not be the problem, autozone said 92.00 for a battery and if that's not it thats alot of change to throw away..

honestly it sounds more like your alternator, what does your voltmeter say? If you can get your hands on a multimeter you could tell right away by checking the output voltage. If you don't have one, autozone or any other chain store can roll a cart out to your rig and test it right there.

And 92 is waaaay too much for a battery!!!

I mean I know you can still buy the batteries that you have to open up and add water too, I just didn't think people used them anymore.

Default if it is dead.....

If your battery is dead by a red top optima. Its about 150 but they have a 10 year warranty on some of their batteries and I have had a old pickup that the ignition was going out, sometimes it would sill be in the on position even though the key came out.....I jumped it ran it for five minutes on the way to work, turned it off and went back out at lunch a few hours later and bam it started. I know there are other batteries of this caliber on the market and some of them are a little cheaper, but I'd go with an optima. I have one in my DD now that I took out of another vehicle. The battery outlasted the vehicle. My buddy found one setting next to a dumpster put it in his truck and jumped it off and he's had that battery 2+ years.
