Thanks. I'm not too sure exactly what part of that it is that I need. I know people sell it, I just can't find it aside from buying an entire $300 front axle shaft already put together. Your diagram breaks it down into the tiniest of parts which will be good when it all falls apart and I need to put it back together but, it doesn't give me a place to buy it or the name of the unit I need to buy.

Sites for other vehicles have nice, informative information like this;
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/do...parts-1144043/

If I knew that was the same parts list for the Cherokee, I would be golden, but no one knows!

TJ front driveshaft double cardan rebuild:
--> 785X U joint (x2)
--> 404-0A centering ball kit
--> 2-86-418 CV joint seal

I get my Spicer parts from here: Action Machine Inc - Shop for Driveshaft Parts - U Joints, Yokes & More

I just went through this myself man. I had a CRAZY squeak coming from those U-Joints.

I also went through all the scenarios, including the $300 option. In the end I found a guy on craigslist who had just lifted his XJ, and he no longer needed his stock front driveshaft. $20 later I was good to go.

If you have the time, a junkyard or 'gently used' DS might be the most cost-effective solution for you. Best of luck.

Thanks man. I have been looking but so far, no luck. Some *** wants about 200 for one on Ebay, used. I'd buy a new one for 300 before that.

WTB: Complete front driveshaft!

Someone has to know what this part is/done it before.

Local shop here will do a rebuild at 125.00. That's even upgrading joints and the cardan joint.
Have you gone to naps and Carquest?

I have a 5 speed. The one I saw on there was for auto. I don't know if it makes a difference but they clearly have it marked auto.

Have a link?

I'd pay that. Unfortunately, I don't know of a DS shop here. I have not pulled it out yet so I have not been to any stores.
