Need advice on isolating engine miss
88, 4.0, auto, 4x4 230k miles. Engine runs flawlessly until crawling for a few hours then out of the blue it spits & sputters when you give it throttle (it'll idle perfectly though). It doesn't stall, just spits & sputters. It also smells rich when this happens. It appears to happen more so when I shut off and re-crank the engine multiple times during our ride. The engine is not overheated, I run a Aux fan and the temp is 190. Again for no reason it'll clear up and start running fine. I would appreciate if you folks out there would give me your opinion what the fix is. It runs great 95% of the time. Thanks.

Mine runs 190, 195 unless I get into traffic then it gets to 210 then my electric fan comes on.As far as it loading up I don't know why it would be doing that.Maybe map senser.Somebody else got anything.
