Default Name that sensor

I have a 1990 XJ 4.0L. I am in process of changing the intake/exhaust gasket. I pulled the wiring harness for the injectors and various sensors on the intake/exhaust. The sensor on the driver side of the engine right at the oil pan broke while trying to get the connector loose. The connector for the sensor looks like one of the fuel injector connectors. What is this sensor? I thought oil pressure, but the sensor on Advance's website doesn't look the same.

It's the knock sensor.

Thanks. Just ordered a new one. $60 for that thing! Yikes.

I think I need to replace my knock sensor.
Was yours difficult to remove?

Mine wasn't. Broke mine while jacking the engine to change the motor mounts. I was able to get a socket over it and it broke loose easily.

As you can see, the new ones are 2 piece. You thread the stud on first, then slip the sensor over it and secure the nut.

The wire harness has shielding around it under the top layer of insulation. Check the harness to make sure the insulation and shielding are intact.

My knock sensor broke in two while trying to remove the plug. I haven't removed the stump from the block yet. Should come out easy with the appropriate sized deep well socket.
