I have a 95 Cherokee, 4.0L, was changing the oil and when the filter turned the wrench snapped off the sensor that has a wire plugged into it. Its located just above the filter near the distributor. What is it? Im sure Ill need a new one. Thanks.

i think i know - i did the same thing !!
check for an ' oil pressure switch ' at your local part store.
a buddy told me that it would be cheap , but not exactly - i think i paid like $42.
he's the same buddy i called during the oil change and said " i knew that was going to happen - i should have warned you about it."
here's a couple of links of what i think you might be talkin about

I have done that more than once and now I just remove it before I remove the oil filter. Make sure you unclip it and unscrew it as well. Good Luck!!

I use a round filter wrench that attatches to the bottom of the filter. The one I have is metal. Tried a plastic one and it broke. I put a 6" long 3/8" drive extension and a ratchet. This works well to not break the oil pressure sending unit while getting the filter off. I hope this helps.

If you want a neat trick to stop oil wrench slippage, get some oil-resistant rubber (thin), or some skateboard grip tape, and line the inside of the filter wrench with it. And you can always spray some brake cleaner on the filter before removal to be sure.
