I got started looking my electrical for the first time ever (only had this Jeep for a decade now) and it looks like somebody already messed with it a long long time ago.
First, here's the fusebox:

That doesn't quite look like the picture in the book. Can anyone tell me why there's a wire where a fuse should be and, it looks like, an extra wire stuck in there too?
Here's the mystery connector I was asking about though. It's right next door:

It looks like some ******** hacked into it too (like 10 years ago I guess). I traced the wire up to the radio! That doesn't seem right at all.
Can anyone tell me what this connector is supposed to be for and why anyone would do this? The radio connector says it should go to the positive end of a 12v battery. But, wouldn't there be some juice already back there behind the radio?
Also, while I'm down here, can anyone tell me what this connector is? It's to the right of the mess we were just looking at. Maybe it has something to do with all this?

Also, if anyone knows of a book that describes all this wiring I'd love a heads-up.
Thanks!

I would think its one of two options
first (pictured) is a old car phone attachment that hooked into the speakers for the "speaker" option on those old phones.
2nd your Jeep might of had a municipal or private business life previously where they needed to run a call radio through the radio system to amplify the radio calls (gets rid of the excuse "I couldn't hear the call over the radio").
That's the only two I can think of and what they looked like they would be used for.

I did read that these Jeeps were used as Forest Service vehicles around here way back when. Cool.
So, that connector somebody hacked into is likely just part of the speaker system then? That seems weird. I guess I need to try to trace it?

they may have just ran those wires for a memory wire or a new power wire even. Nothing to worry about, hell i wish i remember the accessory slots on my fuse panel when i go to run new wires, would save me a hell of a lot of time.

Big thick red wire that doesnt look like it should be there, is for your brake lights. At least on mine it is and it looks exactly the same. Mine goes from there to my brake pedal. Those connectors are either testing connecters like previous post stated or options you dont have.

I noticed that there seem to be spots on the fuse panel for extra stuff. That would be nice to wire accessories in there. Now I know I can, I think. Thanks!
