mysterious switch

hey i just bought a 1986 2.8L v6 cherokee with a np228 tc, and there is a switch that i have right in behind gear selecter for the tranny, i have no idea what it is for, it moves side to side. there are no markings around it cause a previous owner painted the whole console. any help would be appreciated

IVE NEVER HEARD OF AN 86 CHEROKEE WITH A 2.8 V6...... unless its a previous owner swap, you need to go pop the Hood n count how many spark plugs you have and revise the v part!!

dont have any pics right now, jeep is over a friends house and i'm out of town for work, see if i can get some pics this weekend, pretty sure that its a gm motor, from what i have read. these 2 pics are the only ones that i currently have.
