Exclamation Mysterious Oil Leak! Stumped

I recently pulled a reasonably heavy trailer and ever since then I have noticed some spots in my driveway, from where I can tell by looking it is coming from somewhere near the crank pulley. Noticed some fresh oil on the area where oil pan meets block, there is a hard line that swings under the front of the oil pan (some oil on it) and a bracket on drivers side front of oil pan had some also. I see the oil on items but dont actually see where it is coming from, havent had this problem until I pulled that beast......any ideas? Last oil change I went up in weight on oil from 30 to 40 weight. Any help is greatly appreciated

Probably your front crankshaft/timing cover seal. And, it probably had nothing to do with towing or what weight oil you used.

UV dye test it. If there's one thing I've learned in owning xjs its that an oil leak can look like its coming from a hundred different places!

Thanks guys I will look into it. Seems now its not leaking from dead front near timing cover it's coming from this bracket that holds that hard line in place on driver side front of the block

Could be the seal that goes around the crank snout.

Could be a tranny cooler line leaking.

Found out its the water pump going out, it was running down the block and turning black so it looked like oil. Drove home the other night to have my rig pissing all over my driveway, oh well I'll get it fixed this week, thanks for the help guys really appreciate it
